Memorial Day for Israel’s Fallen Soldiers and Victims of Hostilities at the Western Wall

The Memorial Day for Israel’s Fallen Soldiers and Victims of Hostilities at the Western Wall will take place on the eve of Memorial Day on 30.04.17 at 20:00.

The Memorial Day ceremony will be broadcast on the Western Wall cameras.

The ceremony last year was attended by representatives of the bereaved families, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Gadi Eizenkot, President Reuven Rivlin, Mayor of Jerusalem Nir Barkat, Police Commissioner Roni Alshich, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovitch, Director General of the Ministry of Defense, Udi Adam, the Jerusalem District Commander, Major General Chico Edri, Coordinator of Activities in the Territories, and other persons.

Addressing the memorial ceremony last year, President Rivlin said: “Today is a national day of mourning for each and every one of us.
There are differences between us and they are penetrating and touching the root of our existence here, but the IDF is the army of us all.
Our trust in the IDF and its commanders is our trust in our strength, in standing up to our victims. “

Lt. Gen. Gadi Eizenkot noted that unity is the basis of the Israel Defense Forces, and that it shapes its image as the army of the people, with the soldiers and commanders working for a common goal, leaving the separator behind and ready to give their lives for the people and the country.
“Public trust in the IDF is vital to realizing our goal and protecting the state,” Eisenkot said.
