Preparations at the Western Wall for Memorial Day for Fallen Soldiers and Israel’s 75th Independence Day

The state ceremony and the lighting of the Memorial Candle at the Western Wall for fallen soldiers and victims of hostile attacks will take place on the eve of Memorial Day, Monday, April 24, 2023, at 8:00 pm.

The ceremony will be attended by the President of Israel, the Rabbi of the Western Wall and Holy Sites, the Minister of Defense, the Chief of Staff, the Chief Rabbi of the IDF, the Mayor of Jerusalem, and representatives of bereaved families.

Due to the ceremony, there will be changes in the arrangements for entering the Western Wall area. The public is requested to follow the instructions of the Israeli police and the ushers regarding these changes.

It should be noted that access to the covered prayer area in the Western Wall will be available at all times – entry is through the HaGuy Street to the Western Wall Tunnels.

On Israel’s 75th Independence Day, the evening of April 25, 2023, a festive prayer will take place at the Western Wall, led by the Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi David Lau, with the participation of the French Jewish communities in Israel and the Jewish communities in Europe who will join in the live broadcast, as they do every year.

The Mincha prayer and the live broadcast of the prayers for to benefit Jewish communities worldwide will occur at 6:45 pm. The link for direct viewing:
